Four million people in the UK are living in food poverty, and at the same time almost one third of all food is thrown away. Community fridges accept surplus food from local businesses or members of the public and make it freely available to all members of the community.
A successful Community Fridge will cut food waste, build stronger bonds within the community and provide people with nutritious, perishable food items.
Banbury's community fridge is located at the Merton Street Mosque. Open daily 24 hours and it is open to the whole community.
