Parents Talking Aspergers is a support group for families with children and young people with Asperger’s Syndrome (High Functioning Autism). We operate in Middleton Cheney on the border of North Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire. We draw in people from a 30-mile radius and overall, support around 2,000 families online, by phone and in person.
We endeavor to work with all agencies involved in the care and education of Aspergian children and young people. Together, we promote awareness and positive life changes for children and young people with Aspergers, their siblings and parents.
We offer support, understanding and practical help to alleviate many of the pressures and problems that may negatively impact children and their families.
We hold a PTA Fun Night and Parents’ Forum every other week on a Thursday for children in year 6 onwards; their parents and siblings, where we meet for food, fun and friendship. Activities include Wii, iPads, computer games, table tennis, table soccer, air hockey and sensory room chill-out. On alternative Thursdays, we run PTA Junior for children Foundation to Year 6; their parents and siblings.
Our speaker event program – where we invite Autism experts and others who have something positive to contribute on living with Asperger’s – is planned to take place three times a year.
You don’t have to be alone. Come and be part of Parents Talking Aspergers. It will make more sense of living a life that’s wired rather differently…
