South Oxon Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Getting Help and Getting More Help Pathways

What’s important to us (our values):
Children and young people who have mental health needs will receive timely and evidence based interventions in a caring, compassionate and non-judgemental environment. We value the role of the family in the recovery process and where possible family support is an integral part of our work.
What we do:
- Routine and emergency specialist psychiatric assessments, including risk assessment for Children and Young People (5-18) where there is an indication of a mental illness;
- Evidence based interventions, either individually, with the family or within a group setting to Children and Young People who are experiencing mental health difficulties;
- Supportive interventions to parents/carers either individually, or on a group work basis where the Child or Young Person has a mental health diagnosis.
There will be an emphasis on the need for assessment to ascertain the presence or not of mental ill health and CAMHS contribution to the management of complex cases.
