'Access to Work' Guide for Disabled Individuals

Allied Mobility logo

Access to Work is a Government scheme, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and run by Jobcentre Plus, which aims to help overcome problems in employment that occur as a result of disability.

Through the scheme, both employers and employees can access practical advice, based on each individual’s requirements, as well as receiving funding towards any employment costs which are incurred as a direct result of someone’s disability.

The Access to Work scheme is available to disabled individuals both entering the workplace and currently employed. If you are starting a new job, the Access to Work scheme can meet all of any additional costs. For individuals currently in employment, up to 80% of costs in excess of £300 can be met.
