KEEN Oxford

Who are we?
KEEN Oxford is an award winning, inclusive, community organisation centred around a programme of regular social, recreational, and sporting activities.
We think everyone, regardless of their needs, should be able to take part in their community and have equal opportunities to their peers. In particular, we support and promote opportunities for children and adults with a wide range of additional needs. We provide a safe, secure environment in which everyone can make friends, get active, and follow their interests.
What does KEEN do?
We offer activities to around 250 young people with additional needs, ranging from 4 to 25+ years old. Our 'Session Buddies' take part alongside participants, offering appropriate support while tailoring or adapting activities so that everyone can get involved. We can offer one-to-one and sometimes even two-to-one support for participants. Our volunteers are caring, patient, capable, and incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, with most being university students at Oxford and Oxford Brookes or local school students.
We run 5 regular weekly sessions during Oxford University term time:
- a social club for over-18s on Monday evenings, doing everything from karaoke and pub trips, to board games and pizza making
- a drama group for all ages, also on Monday evenings
- a creative arts and play session for ages 4-11 on Thursdays
- all-inclusive multi-sports session on Saturday afternoons for ages 4-12 and 13-25, including a variety of sports from basketball to cheerleading
- an 18+ sports session on Tuesday evenings.
Each year we also run a unique and creative programme of additional KEEN Plus activities, like day trips, ice skating, swimming, museum visits, concerts, and much more.
Who can come to KEEN?
We cater to a very-wide range of additional needs, and very rarely turn anyone away who could benefit from coming to our sessions. All new participants must register with us first, to ensure we understand how to support them best. To request a registration form, please email aisling@keenoxford.org or see our website www.keenoxford.org
