Portage Course-supporting children with additional needs to reach their potential in your setting

The Portage course is relevant to all practitioners supporting children with additional needs in their pre-school setting and where relevant, in their home.

This course gives strategies that are relevant and can be used immediately. The course covers a range of topics that include:

  • How to plan activities that are appropriate to children with SENDAS.
  • Writing teaching targets-short and long term goals, which are challenging, achievable.
  • Workable behaviour plans, promoting positive outcomes.
  • Recording outcomes effectively.

The course is full of good, practical ideas that can be used in all settings.  The Portage principles can be used with all the children in your setting. This course will benefit all staff including SENCOs.

This Portage Workshop is heavily subsidised by a Charitable Trust.

Priority will be given to practitioners from settings who are working towards the Portage Stamp of Approval or practitioners wanting to then study for the Level 3 in Portage (see NPA website for details). There are a number of parent places; local parents who have had connections to the Buckinghamshire Portage Service will be prioritised.
