Ofsted Registered Childminder with a Degree in Early Years Childcare. I am also a qualified Level 3 Playworker and worked as an Afterschool Club Leader as well as playschemes for ages 4-15 years. I am a member of Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY). I joined Pacey because they promote best practice and support childcare professionals to deliver high standards of care and learnig which is my goal for my setting. Training and qualifications include updated First Aid Certificate, i am a Designated Safeguarding Lead working with 2 assistants and also hold a Food and Hygiene certificate. In our setting we like to expand our knowledge and learning of the early years through face to face training and online courses to help us in supporting children's learning, care and development.
Sheillar worked for Oxford County Council for over 10 years as an Early Years Support Worker: experiences include Supervising and Leading different creches, leading stay and play sessions and working with children and their families who had English an additional language. I also assisted in co-ordinating groups for the community which supported parents to engage with our services to understand children's learning and development, health and many more subjects.
I have been involved in delivering courses on healthy eating (HENRY), Family Links, managing behaviour, play therapy to mention just a few. During the restructuring of Children Centres i changed my job to working with The Early Help Team in Abingdon. This was a rewarding job working with vulnarable families as a whole in providing early support to families and referring them to appropriate services. I resigned from my jod in December 2017 to become a Childminder as i was finding it difficult find full time childcare as i had just moved to the new area GWP from Oxford.
September 2019 2 assistants joined the setting Laura and Sacha and they both have vast knowledge and experience in working with children, they both worked as voluntees in running of baby groups, library groups and are both mothers of 2 children each. There is reassurance that your child will be looked after and cared for by qualified and experienced staff. We will do our very best to offer good quality care in a safe environment within the adult to child ratio. Having assistants helped expand the setting therereby offering more spaces to support our community to try and help meet the needs of high demand in childminders in our area. It also makes it easier to manage when we decide to go out on trips with the extra adults supervision.
My setting offer a caring and stimulating environment for children and we believe every child is unique so we plan activies according to individual needs as well as fun learning. Indoor activities include group time, mark making, reading books, painting and role play, child and adult led activities. The setting work in partneship with parents so information sharing is important because we can then offer best support for the child and their family.
Out of setting activities including trips to the park, attending various toddler groups, visits to the library. My my car is insured for business this means that i can transport children in my car when necessary. A written consent is signed by parents to agree for their child/ren to be transported in my car among other consents. Before the journey i would inform parents on the morning of drop off if i will be transporting their childr/en in the car for a day out.
Indoor and outdoor activities icludes reading/writting/ mark making, singing time, painting, free play. We have advantage of the field in front of the house (The Pavillion, Boundary Park) which we have access to and also nearby walking distance parks. Routines vary from day to day but play is at the centre of everything we do because we believe children learn as much through play and it is favourable to the children. We use observations, assessments to plan for chidren's next steps of their learning journey using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which nurseries and schools use.
