Welcome to APUK Wantage @ The Green Bean – A baby, toddler and beyond group which strives to support families in Wantage and the surrounding villages. We are a volunteer-run group for like-minded parents and carers. A safe and non-judgemental place to meet and support each other, and seek support using principles of positive, gentle and attachment parenting. We strongly believe in the old African proverb: It takes a village to raise a child. In today's fast-paced society where families are often separated by geography, The Green Bean seeks to build that community to make parenting a little less stressful ♥ With our weekly meets and strong online community, there is always somebody to reassure and support you, even in the darkest hours of the night.
The group is facilitated by Karolina, Megan, Hannah & Camilla who are all registered facilitators of Attachment Parenting UK (APUK). Between the four facilitators, they hold qualifications in babywearing, hypnobirthing, breastfeeding, life coaching and positive discipline.
Providing up to date and evidenced-based support as well as sharing our own experiences, we welcome you to share yours on all topics including positive birth, breastfeeding (including beyond infancy), baby-led weaning, normal infant sleep and no cry sleep solutions, positive discipline, co-sleeping, cloth nappies, babywearing and other everyday parenting topics with an emphasis on ethical, natural and eco!
The group meets on a weekly basis throughout the year, except bank holidays, and we are very fortunate to have a wonderful venue with a lot of space. We have well stocked and ever-expanding sling, cloth nappy and book libraries. All are available to browse and borrow from. There are lovely toys to play with, crafts to enjoy, and educational resources to browse. Most importantly, it's a great place to meet other lovely families with similar parenting values.
We hope you find this a lovely warm, friendly, non-judgemental and supportive group. We certainly do and want to say a big. Thank You to everybody that comes for making it such a fab group.

Sling Library:

The extensive sling library will be available to browse and hire from on the 3rd Monday of every month unless advertised otherwise, so if you have a new baby and don't know where to start and you're not sure which sling is right for you and your baby or you feel like your existing carrier is no longer right for you but want to carry on your babywearing journey....then this is the place to be :) Come along to get expert advice from qualified sling consultants and peer supporters. The library is free to browse and play with throughout the session and hire fees are from £10/4 weeks hire.
A small sample of slings will always be available on other weeks too.

Book Library

We also have a well-stocked parenting book library which is free to borrow from and covers a variety of topics including: Positive birth, hypnobirthing, parenting support, breastfeeding, weaning, sleep, diet & lifestyle, baby & toddler activities and education.

Donations are always welcome.
