St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School Nursery class (Little Joey's)

School Logo

We are a Nursery Class within St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. We are proud to have the latest resources and equipment to support the development of children from 3 years of age until they start Reception Class. Being part of St Joseph's School allows us to pool our expertise and knowledge which helps us to deliver a high level of Early Years Education through our Nursery. Our most recent Oxfordshire County Council EYFS Review stated that 'the EYFSCO and nursery nurse have brought about rapid and consistent improvement in practice, provision and outcomes. The curriculum is broad and rich and cultural capital is promoted extremely well.'

Our Nursery nurse and Reception Class teacher work very closely together; pupils from Reception Class and Nursery class have free-flow between two well-resourced classrooms and share a fantastic enclosed, fully resourced outdoor space.  This joint experience ensures a high level of provision with which we offer a broad curriculum of both adult led and child initiated activities.  Our Nursery pupils are fully integrated into school life, going on walks to town, visiting our local church and amenities as well as sharing assemblies and lunchtimes with the whole school.  This ensures that pupils in nursery have a seemless transition into Reception Class.

We are a small Nursery with a family approach, involving parents and other family members in the children's learning experiences along their Learning Journey. Our staff regularly communicate with parents through Tapestry and Class DoJo so parents feel part of the learning journey of their children. Our Nursery is a purpose built room that flows onto a large outdoor area that provides the children with stimulating outdoor experiences.  Our Nursery pupils have access to an extensive school playing field with a outdoor wild area and an all weather pitch.

We offer wrap around provision for all children with a breakfast facility opening from 7:45am and an onsite, school staff led, aftershool provision which closes at 6:00pm.

We always welcome visitors to our Nursery and School, so please feel welcome to come along and see us in action.
