Yellow Submarine’s “Compass Project” is a supported work experience programme based in Oxford.
We operate a “learning by doing” approach. Participants are supported to be involved in our various micro-enterprises including catering deliveries, paper recycling, printing services and gift making.
It is aimed at people with learning disabilities (18+) who would like the benefits of going to a workplace and engaging in meaningful daytime activities, but aren’t ready to work in a mainstream setting. Typically participants attend one day a week—either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Learners within the Compass Project are supported by staff to try their hand at different jobs and discover what suits their abilities and needs. The goal is to get individuals managing independently in their chosen area and the confidence to progress, where appropriate, to the next level.
