Health visitors are qualified nurses or midwives with specialist public health training. We are trained in child development and protecting children according to the Healthy Child Programme.
We will contact you before your baby is born and will be able to provide advice and support up until your child becomes five years of age.
Our Health Visiting teams include community staff nurses and nursery nurses and we can offer support within our child health clinics or during a home visit.
We work with other agencies such as GPs, midwives, school health nurses, early years settings, voluntary and community groups, and social care services.
Health visitors work to promote equal health opportunities, promote health, and provide a service to individuals, families and communities resident within Oxfordshire.
