Witney Museum & Historical Society

The Witney Museum & Historical Society has a permanent exhibition showing the life and times of the area, from prehistory to early settlements, and the transition to a market town in medieval times, through the development of the blanket industry, the two World Wars and the growth of the modern town.
There is also a changing programme of exhibitions by local artists and craft-workers upstairs in the Bartlett-Taylor Gallery, interspersed with historical displays of local interest.
We also hold a large collection of archives and photographs which may be of help if you're researching your family tree or trying to find out more about the history of your house. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like advice on these topics.
