Please ensure that participants are physically able to dance for long periods of time.
Dance Fitness in particular is similar to any other dance exercise class and so can be tiring.
Water MUST be at hand the whole time.
Trainers or dance shoes should be worn - Please do NOT dance in socks on a wooden or tiled floor.
Medication, if needed, should be at hand.
1:1 support should be provided if this is the case for other community setting provision.
All participants are muted once the dance class starts but the room opens 10 minutes early so friends can catch up: I ask all to keep their private information private as it is a 'public' space!
My priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of all dancers and so I start each session with a quick interactive safety checklist!
- Other notes
Most of the dancers are young adults aged 18 - late 20's with learning disabilities.
I have taught many of them face to face for years either at FE College or as part of Tailfeatherdance.
Since lockdown, we have welcomed many new faces who join us from various parts of the country.
One day next year I hope to have a massive Tailfeatherdance celebration party where we can all meet and dance together!
