Oxon Children's Integrated Therapies
Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy as part of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Occupational Therapists (OTs) enable children and young people to take part as fully as possible in activities that are part of their daily lives. OTs work with children and young people who have learning and physical and/or sensory difficulties which impact their ability to participate in normal everyday activities.
- Physiotherapists (Physios) work with children and young people of all ages who have a range of problems that affect their ability to move part or all of their body. By improving range, strength, control, coordination or balance a physio may help a child learn to turn their head, crawl, sit, walk or help with more advanced skills of running, throwing and catching or sports.
- Speech & Language Therapists (SLTs) work with children and young people of all ages with a range of difficulties that impact on communication including: listening, understanding, putting ideas into words, making sentences, speech development, stammering, voice problems, social interaction skills and eating and swallowing difficulties. The service helps children and young people to develop speech, language or alternative means of communication.

- Other notes
Who we offer this service to:
Children and Young people 0-19 years. Across Oxfordshire, we will facilitate a supportive transition to adult services when the young person reaches 18. The transition process can be started at the Year 9 review in partnership with Education Services.
How and when we do it: Monday - Friday
Therapists will work with you/your child/young person to assess their strengths and needs. This will be done through activities, exercises, observations and assessments. Following assessment, the therapists work with settings and schools to develop goals for you, the child or young person. Therapy support may then continue in a range of ways including advice/activity recommendations, therapy/exercise programmes, direct therapy, therapy groups, training for others. Support is offered in the most appropriate environment for the child/young person and family eg schools, nurseries, own homes, community clinics, children's centres.
Therapy teams work in an integrated way as part of a team around the child and family and in close partnership with Advisory Teachers within Education and Colleagues in Health and Social Care. Children's Integrated Therapies work within three integrated area teams. Some countywide Specialist Support Services work across the county eg Hearing Impairment, Dysfluency etc.
