Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) may help with the extra costs of looking after an eligible child who - is under 16 years of age; has difficulties walking or needs more looking after than a child of the same age who doesn’t have a disability.  They will also have to meet the eligibility requirements listed on the gov.uk site.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a tax-free benefit made up of 2 components (parts). The child might qualify for one or both components - the components are a care component and a mobility component.  You can claim DLA for children if you are in or out of work.  Application forms are available on the gov.uk site.

If you're the parent/carer of a disabled child, the Disability Information Officer at the Oxon Family Information Service can send you guidance notes to help you to fill out your Disability Living Allowance (DLA) form.  Please email fis.enquiries@oxfordshire.gov.uk to request this.
